Customers who have a Speedtouch 780wl router and have our Single line package, may experience problems of one-way audio.
This is caused by a configuration problem with the Speedtouch router that is incompatible with this VoIP package.
In order to change this you will need to access the router's CLI interface using a telnet session.
1. First you will need the internal IP address of your router so that you can open a telnet session to the router.
If you have not made any changes to the router configuration then the default IP address will be 192.168.1.254.
If you have made changes then you will be able to view the router configuration from it's web interface at
http://speedtouch.lan.
2. To open a telnet session with the router you will need to open a command window.
From the Start button select run and type cmd and select OK
This will open a black command prompt window.
Type telnet 192.168.1.254 and enter.
You should see the SpeedTouch 780 CLI interface with a prompt {Administrator}=>
3. Next you need to navigate to the codec section in order to make the changes.
(Typing help and enter will show you a list of commands that can be used)
Type voice and enter
Type codec and enter
4. Now you need to make the changes to the codec priorities in order to fix the problem.
Type List and enter. This will show you a list of codecs that the device can use. You will see that the G711a and G711u codecs both have the same priority "1"
This is the problem.
5. To change the codec settings you type config and enter.
You will be prompted for the codec you wish to configure.
First you need to move the G723.1 codec to priority 8.
type = g723.1
[ptime_g723.1] = leave this blank
[vad] = leave this blank
[priority] = 8
[status] = disabled
Now we need to move the G729 codec to priority 3
type = g729
[ptime_g729] = leave this blank
[vad] = leave this blank
[priority] = 3
[status] = leave this blank
Now we need to move the G711u codec to priority 2
type = g711u
[ptime_g711u] = leave this blank
[vad] = leave this blank
[priority] = 2
[status] = leave this blank
6. Finally you will need to save the amended configuration.
Type saveall and press enter.
7. We recomend that you reboot the router after making these changes to make sure that they take effect.
This should resolve the issue of one-way audio.
