For anyone on the T-Mobile network in the US. If you install the version of sipdroid from the Market it won't allow you to make calls over 3G, only over wifi. If you install the vesion from http://code.google.com/p/sipdroid/downloads/list, then you can make calls over 3G. I haven't tested quality over 3G as yet.

Fring (http://www.fring.com/android/) has released a version for android. It hasn't worked very well for me, e.g. fring doesn't work after the phone goes to sleep, but I suspect they'll get these wrinkles ironed out in later versions.

An aging thread, but Android and SIP VoIP lives, so perhaps there are still those interested...

CSipSimple version 0.00-16 r410, available for free through the Android Market.

I can't confirm 2g/3g data plan compatibility, as I don't have a data plan, and rely on wifi for internet. There are settings in the ap to enable 3g access, Wimax access, wifi, etc, and these settings can be different for inbound, or outbound calls.
I've found this SIP client to be quite functional, and flexible.

For outbound calls, the client auto-detects whether it's even possible for it to go online (e.g. wifi is enabled on the device, AND wifi is enabled for outbound SIP calls and/or inbound calls, AND the device is logged onto an AP...). If SIP is available, it refreshes SIP registration, and pops up a user selection to call via SIP or via mobile carrier. If it believes it cannot go online/register to the SIP account, there's no pop-up, and it simply dials as usual (mobile). Behavior is user selectable, though the above was default on my installation.

Various audio codecs are user selectable. Echo cancellation, ICE, STUN, DNS SRV resolution, etc.

Cons? None really, just a matter of taste. During the call, the screen goes to standby, and it defaults to using sliders for screen unlock. Though SIPDroid lacks lots on functionality, I like their giant 'box' that slides to hangup the call, rather than the smaller sliders found in CSipSimple. Other than that, thus far CSipSimple beats the other free SIP clients I've tried under Android, running on my HTC Magic running Froyo.

CSipSimple connects very seamlessly with SipSorcery. I've made a few calls with it and so far, crystal clear. I tried SipDroid, but CSipSimple is easier, looks nicer and has more features.
