Looking for Hosted PBX
Looking for Hosted PBX
Hello,
I am looking for a hosted PBX that is able to offer these things:
1. add my own trunk
2. use some kind of web callback or API where I can place a call like this: enter first leg number, second leg number, set caller ID, set call duration
I have looked on the web but I can't find anything like this, all I got was some providers which offer complicated PBX but no API support. If you know such a provider, please post it here.
Thank you!

The best hosted PBX available is tropo.com.
Here's a blog post from one of the tropo engineers about a http://blog.tropo.com/2010/04/24/tutori ... ferencing/.

From what I have read I cannot add my own trunk.
Re: Looking for Hosted PBX
Ok sounds more like you're just after a click-to-call provider rather than a hosted PBX.
The sipsorcery service has the ability to initiate a call in the manner you've described, http://www.sipsorcery.com/help/webcallback.html, and you can use whichever providers you want. Of course like all things sipsorcery documentation is scant and it also depends on both edns of the call supporting re-invites and can be a bit fragile if one end of the call is behind a NAT.
I think voxalot.com have something along similar lines although I've never used it.
Apart from that I don't know of any other "open" ones that allow you to use arbitrary SIP providers. You've got the likes of http://public.ifbyphone.com/services/click-to-call but in that case it's pretty much a PSTN only solution.

Re: Looking for Hosted PBX
Thank you Aaron for your reply. I have already tried Sipsorcery webcall, but apart from ringing back to my local account, I have no possibility to change dynamically the caller ID for this kind of call. It would be grate if I could use curl and pass these parameters (1st leg, 2nd leg, callerid, duration) to sipsorcery. I am willing to pay for such a service, but not that much as the offers found, with a lot of features.
Re: Looking for Hosted PBX
With the sipsorcery web callback you can dynamically update just about anything you want. When you send a request to https://www.sipsorcery.com/callmanager.svc/webcallback it ends up in your webcallback dialplan and within that dialplan you can use the sys.WebGet method to retrieve any settings you want. After that you can callerid using the same options format in sys.Callback that are available is sys.Dial, see http://www.sipsorcery.com/help/dialplans, the fd, fu and fh options are the options that allow the From header, aka callerid, to be customised.

Re: Looking for Hosted PBX
I never thought about using sys.Webget...I will look into in more and if I cannot handle it, I will post in the tech area. Thank you very much!
Re: Looking for Hosted PBX
Aaron, I have managed to do what I needed by using your advice. I have also made a donation in order to enhance sipsorcery service. I know it's not much, but I hope for all the best.

I am using hosted PBX services from The Real PBX. You can contact them through their website. They may help you.
