Worth trying to use local version?

Post by luckycharms » Tue Apr 26, 2011 6:08 pm

Hi Folks,

I'm a big fan of SS, though it seems that Aaron's poor servers have been getting bogged down as of late. I've considered the idea of installing a local version of SS in a place with some good bandwidth in order to solve that problem. I'm not sure if the local version is really up to speed, though. Is it an abandoned project, and hence will i be wasting my time, or could it actually work out well for me?

thanks a bunch!

I wouldn't recommend using the latest code as a local install unless you are a programmer and are already familiar with running one of the previous sipsorcery releases.

It's definitely not a stalled project since it uses the same code base as sipsorcery.com and in fact I always test locally with it on my own machine before updating sipsorcery.com. But I haven't found the time to package everything up to make it even remotely user friendly since the last v1.2 release. Another release is definitely due so if I get time over the coming months I'll get it done.
