I know it might look silly when the name of this (great) service is MySIPswitch, but would it be possible to use IAX2 protocol to register ?
It looks like the service is hosted by an Asterisk server, so it should be possible ? Using server name : iax.mysipswitch.com ?
As a matter of fact, IAX2 is very useful in difficult NAT/firewall environments (by experience, I often have some problems in hotels with SIP, such as one-way sound, but never with IAX2)
IAX2 registration
Hi voipuser,
The sipswitch is actually hosted on a windows server so Asterisk is not involved.
There are no plans to add IAX support the main reason being that unlike SIP IAX is not solely a signalling protocol. The reason IAX is sometimes better with NAT is that the media and signalling travel the same path. If the sipswitch were to go down the path of supporting media it would start costing a lot more to run due to bandwidth and processing requirements.

Aaron
