IS GV on the blink again?

Post by tomfoley » Thu Dec 11, 2014 3:40 am

Hi all,

For the first time in a while I tried to use Google Voice via Sipsorcery. Console reports it cannot find the "_rnr_se key" on the web page, an error that was common enough in times past. I opened my GV page and sure enough there is a value for _rnr_se key visible. So it seems Sipsorcery is missing the key, or have I forgotten something in the intervening time?

Thank you,

- Tom

GV calls are still working on my account.

You haven't enable two factor authentication or application specific passwords on your GV account have you? The HTTP request sent by sipsorcery to the GV web page can't work with either of those.

Hi Aaron,

Thank you for replying. I'm sure you're busy so it is much appreciated. Two-step account as well as app verification is off. I'm at a loss.

There are some instances of peoples' GV accounts all of a sudden stopping working with sipsorcery. If you search this forum you should be able to find some posts. From memory some people were able to resolve it by resetting something on their GV account.

I just recalled what one of the problems was int he past.

GV can decide that the sipsorcery server IP address is attempting to access your account when it shouldn't be. Something should show up on the security section of your GV account. In the past the way for me to fix it was to connect to the problem GV account in a browser directly from the sipsorcery server. If you'd like me to do this send me a PM.

PM sent. Hopefully Aaron can log in via SS to GV with my credentials, and I'll update here with any result.

What was I thinking? Of course it wasn't a SS issue. Google can be fussy at to where it sees logins coming from.

By Aaron performing the login locally to SS and answering a security challenge (verifying back up email address as recorded on Google settings) Google was happy to allow access. Direct-dial Google Voice is now working like a charm again.

I can't say thank you enough to Aaron for helping me out. There was nothing in it for him and no doubt he had more productive things to do with his time. So big shoutout to you Aaron :D

Try this,
On your Google Voice account go to Settings. In there go to Account and Change your Password, Don't forget to set your new password in SipSorcery Dial Plan.
Hopefully it'll fix your problem.
